How to Download the Finale Viewer

There are some minimum specs for browsers SOMEWHERE on the Finale download

page. . . I can't find them. But I think I remember that Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater

is needed or Netscape 7.0 or greater.

Go to this site: www.finalemusic.com/downloads/index.asp.

When you get to this page, the Download Library page, type in under 'Name,' 'viewer'

and click on 'search.' Forget about all the other boxes that say 'Any' in them. When you

get to the next page, click on 'download Finale Viewer for Windows' ... OR ... 'download

Finale Viewer for Macintosh.' The Viewer is FREE.

You can also use Finale's 'Notepad.' So you can also download 'Finale Notepad 2006

for Windows' or 'Finale Notepad for Macintosh.' I think that 'Notepad' is not free.

Either the Viewer or Notepad will work.

You could also get to the downloads page by going to Finale's home page:

'www.Finalemusic.com.' On the home page rest your mouse's cursor on 'Downloads'

on the top menu bar. When the menu drops down, click on 'Search.' Then type in

'viewer' ... OR ... 'Finale Viewer' in the search box and click on "Search.' This will take

you to the 'Index' page where you can click on one of the hyperlinks mentioned above.

They ask you to start a (free) account before allowing access to their download

area. I guess it's to gather information in order to e-mail people information

about their products. Click on 'Create Account.'

When you get to the 'Create New Account' page, fill in the details and click on the

'Create Account' button at the bottom of the page. Follow whatever directions they give

you to take you to the downloads page.

After your download is completed, go to the directory in which you've saved the download

and click on the WinFinView.exe file to install it.

Once installed, go to the RB website page, 'Leadsheets', and pick a song that you want

to see displayed and hear. Clicking on a song will take you to the song's page where you

can click on the song's title.

The Viewer that you've installed will automatically open the song's sheet music (it takes

awhile on a 56k modem) and display it on your screen.

Click the start button at the top left and the song will play. You can also print out the

sheet music for your own use.

Hope this helps.
